How to make a ringtone
A seriously-easy-creating-a-ringtone-tutorial.

< Click here for the alternative tutorial >

Time it takes: Around 5 minutes
Cost: Free (Software only allows 20 ringtones to be made, you do not have to buy it after that - see our other tutorial for more free software)
Skill required: As long as you can move a mouse, you'll be fine.
You will need: Your favorite song (mp3), a free piece of software.

Here we go...

First things first. You will need a free piece of software called Mp3 Workshop, (don't worry, it dosn't come with adware or spyware...) click here to get it: http://www.media-download.co.uk/ezmp3/

I presume you know how to download stuff off the net yeah? Grand...

RIght, when you've done the downloading business, double click on the file and run the installation. It's pretty simple and will take about 20 seconds. When the installation is done, it will ask you if you want to launch the program. Unless you are being awkward, select the box that means yes.

Woohoo! You've downloaded and opened the program. Let's move on. (Optional: You may now take a coffee break.)

Now it's the easy bit...
Click on Cut, which is near the top of the program.
When you've done that, click Add MP3 (Damn, this is hard)
Look around your computer for the file that you want as a ringtone. I have chosen one of my favorite choons' by Mr. Whack. Click add when you're done.

Right, this is about as hard as it gets, but it is still pretty simple. I've even colour coded the steps...

Click once on the file you have just opened.

Select where you want to cut FROM.

Select where you want to cut TO.

I recommend you select a 30 - 40 second long clip, otherwise the ringtone will take a lot of room up on your phone.

When your happy you've selected your favorite part of the song:

Click the little down arrow and change the Bitrate to 96 Kbps.

Unless you want to overite your favorite song, NOOOOOOOO!, unselect this box.

Click start.

Click Cut Now

Yes, that really is all you need to do.

YEY! You've made your ringtone!

The box i've highlighted in black shows you where your lovely new ringtone is. Don't loose it!

Click OK when your done

Only one more thing left to do:

If you do have the expensive cable that goes between your pc and your phone, transfer it over and use it as your ringtone. If you want to share the ringtone with your friends or the MotoMail.co.uk users, click here and upload it.

If you don't have the expensive cable, you can upload the ringtone onto MotoMail.co.uk free of charge, and then download it free of charge to your phone:

Your computer -----------> MotoMail.co.uk -----------> Your phone

(that makes sense dosn't it?)

Place your cursor here and click to upload your ringtone now! Please don't forget to rename your file before you upload it! :-)

And that's the tutorial over
told you it was simple didn't i?
